The First Step
I'm not good with blogging. I told you in the first post and I think this post is the final proof.
It's Week 6 and I'm making a post about the first one.
Anyway, the first lesson started off with Johnston and Thomas' principles of animation, which are the following:
- Squash and Stretch
- Anticipation
- Staging
- Straight Ahead / Pose to Pose
- Follow Through / Overlapping Action
- Slow In / Slow Out
- Arc
- Secondary Action
- Timing
- Exaggeration
- Solid Drawing
- Appeal
We began studying the simplest (and probably most important!): Arcs. As an exercise, we needed to watch and tape a bouncing ball and a walking person.
Here's the bouncing ball, and I hope you never stumble upon the video my friends made of me walking because it's awkward.

And, last but not least, here's a video that explains the principles better than I ever could.
There's not much more to say, the real deal is applying the principles to your animation.
They're very easy to apply on TVPain, the real fight is with Maya.
But we'll talk about that next time, when I'll cover what we did during Week 2. With this pace, around June 2017.
Thank you, see you soon.
PS. Don't panic. It won't take that long.
PPS. Maybe.
