The First Step

I'm not good with blogging. I told you in the first post and I think this post is the final proof. It's Week 6 and I'm making a post about the first one. Anyway, the first lesson started off with Johnston and Thomas' principles of animation, which are the following: Squash and Stretch Anticipation Staging Straight Ahead / Pose to Pose Follow Through / Overlapping Action Slow In / Slow Out Arc Secondary Action Timing Exaggeration Solid Drawing Appeal We began studying the simplest (and probably most important!): Arcs. And, last but not least, here's a video that explains the principles better than I ever could. There's not much more to say, the real deal is applying the principles to your animation. They'r...

Road to ruin

I'm a terrible blogger. I say that first because that's something you, reader, need to be prepared of. Let me introduce myself before I proceed any further. My name is Francesco Giannotta -people usually call me Fran- and I'm currently studying Animation & VFX at the Falmouth University in England. You can guess by my name that's not where I come from at all; I'm in fact italian, I was born and raised in Sicily and I moved here three weeks ago. The first few weeks have been a bit rough, but now I'm kinda used to this place. In this blog I'll post my work as I -hopefully- become better and better at what I love. I will also post some of my unwanted thoughts, opinions and eventually researches and inpirations. Thank you, see you soon. PS. thinking in two languages is hard enough, so I may make some mistakes in my posts. I'm not saying I necessarily will, but don't say I didn't warn you!
